Hawthorne Heights is a based in America. The band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in June 2001, their line-up currently consists of vocalist and guitarist JT Woodruff, lead guitarist Micah Carli, bassist and vocalist Matt Ridenour and drummer Eron Bucciarelli. In late 2007, guitarist and vocalist Casey Calvert died of accidental causes, leaving the band as a four-piece. The band, who were originally named A Day in the Life, have released two studio albums on Victory Records since changing their name to Hawthorne Heights.

Blues Traveler is an American rock band formed in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987. They are best known to general audiences for their hit songs “Run-Around”, “Hook” and “But Anyway”. As of 2007, the group comprises singer and harmonica virtuoso John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999 of a drug overdose in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Deal or No Deal presents a bit of a conundrum. Yes, it's a fairly accurate PC-game rendition of the uberpopular NBC game show starring Mr. St. Elsewhere himself, Howie Mandel, and yes, it is a budget-priced game. Fans of the game show are likely to squeal with delight at the prospect of being able to play their favorite game at home--but before you run out and drop a twin on this one, stop and think. Think to yourself, why? Why pay for a Deal or No Deal game, when dozens of free flash games with the same formula exist (on NBC's Web site, at that)? Is it for the cheap, lousy minigames included? Is it for the promise of multiplayer action? Is it because you're hopelessly in love with Howie Mandel's soul patch? Ponder these questions as we delve deeper into the enigma that is the value of owning Deal or No Deal.

Deal or No Deal offers the exact game you've probably seen on TV numerous times. In this, the world's most skill-free game show, contestants are offered 26 metal briefcases, each containing a dollar amount. You start the show by picking one, and that one becomes your case. Through of series of rounds, you then begin selecting the other cases on the board. The idea is to try to eliminate all the low amounts currently displayed (though the high amounts tend to disappear as well). At the end of each round, a mysterious "banker," who sits in a dark room staring at a computer screen, offers you an amount of money (seemingly based on your play style, and the aggregate average of the amounts still left on the board) to buy your case. From there, it's, "Deal, or no deal?" Get it? Good. This PC game offers precisely the same game formula, but without the hope of winning real money. Perhaps the one advantage is that this game offers the same pacing of the show, as well as many of Mandel's trademark lines (though not all of them, and the dialogue tends to start repeating after just a few plays), but apart from those bells and whistles, there's not much on offer here to set the game apart from the many, many freeware versions of Deal or No Deal that exist all over the Internet. Why buy the cow when the milk is free just about everywhere?

Hopefully, it isn't for the "bonus features." Multiplayer and minigames are also offered in this package, and neither are very good. Minigames consist of little more than a cheap slider puzzle, a memory game, and a three-card monte variant. None of them are fun for more than a single play. The multiplayer is perhaps the most intriguing option, since it futzes with the main game formula a bit and has you and another player trading off turns, trying to make the best deal possible. There's also a "family-friendly" version of the game, where players can create custom prizes. Some of the default options include household chores and tasks for new parents (changing diapers, feedings, and such). While this might work for the most boring people alive, the rest of you can opt to create your own prizes. Perhaps those with more active imaginations (or, at the very least, filthier minds) can create more-sordid prizes with their significant other(s). Clearly, this is the most useful function the game has to offer.

But is that enough to make Deal or No Deal worth paying for? Hardly. Sure, it's amusing for the first one or two plays, and maybe there's a bit of devious amusement to be had with the custom prize mode, but the fact remains that the necessity of owning a Deal or No Deal game just isn't there. There isn't even that level of trivial skill involved that you tend to get with most game show games, because there's no trivial knowledge required. There's no skill required at all! You're just picking random numbers and hoping for the best. It's all well and good to watch on TV when there's real money involved, and there's nothing wrong with playing something like this for free on the Internet. But actually going to the trouble of paying for a fake-money version of it? That's a poor deal any way you slice it.

Play as part of a police force as you drive a variety of vehicles, such as cars, helicopters, and tanks, in your pursuit of justice.


How strongly or loosely Crash Time follows the plot of its licence I'm not at liberty to say. Neither the manual nor the game itself shows any signs of being connected to a show. If there were references to any German police movies, they're gone now. Crash Time is split into two major modes of the play; the story based 'Case' mode and a more recognisable single race. The case mode puts you in the shoes of officers from an elite police unit as they attempt to solve various crimes, ranging from murder to espionage and kidnapping.

There are plenty of different cars in the game, although nearly all of them need to be unlocked. The arcade feel means there isn't a lot of variety in how they drive, but vehicles like the scout and a tank/APC that simply rolls over traffic add a little bit of variety to the collection. The real star of the game however is the environment. Both of the two main stages you play in are huge, realistic looking areas backed up by sharp graphics and an eye for detail. All the traffic moves realistically and there's been no lazy development here; everything looks unique and it feels like there's been a real effort to make everything have its place, rather than falling into the trap of throwing down scenery objects for the hell of it.

One of the greatest real-time strategy games of all time, C&C: Red Alert brings a sci-fi twentieth-century conflict into the C&C mix. According to the background story, Albert Einstein invents a time machine and kills Adolf Hitler to prevent WWII. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, however, launches a full-scale attack with advanced Mammoth tanks, Tesla coils, and V2 rocket launchers.


Red Alert is intentionally unbalanced. The Soviets have more powerful infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, and defensive towers. The United States and Western Europe have only a couple strengths: warships and "smart" units such as medics and mine-layers. Great music tracks, an excellent control system, good-looking graphics (by mid-'90s
standards), and superb gameplay make C&C: Red Alert a classic.

The real-time strategy genre is a victim of its own success, suffering the same unfortunate fate as first-person action games in the post-Doom era. Publishers know the category is hot, and have responded by firing salvo after salvo of copycat designs and lookalike games at unwary players. There will be no less than a dozen new entries into the real-time strategy market this holiday season alone - and trying to pick the right one is like playing Russian Roulette with five chambers loaded.

That is, unless you pick Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Developed by Westwood Studios - whose seminal Dune II created the real-time strategy category, and whose Command & Conquer (along with Blizzard's Warcraft II) represents the highest achievement in the genre to date - Red Alert has the pedigree of a champion and a premise to match: Albert Einstein applies his theories of relativity to time travel, hurtling back in time to assassinate Hitler before he ever comes to power. The plan works, and with Hitler out of the picture, Nazi Germany never materializes. But unfortunately, the Red Menace does, with Russia's Stalin turning a burgeoning war machine towards the West, raining destruction and terror on those unfortunate enough to find themselves standing in his way.

WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008
By far the biggest change to this year's game is the addition of fighting styles. This is a sort of classification of each wrestler type that gives wrestlers under each type specific abilities. For instance, powerhouse types like Batista can effectively "hulk up" when they fill up their energy meter and store a fighting style icon, which renders them impervious to strikes and makes all their grapple moves irreversible. Secondary abilities are also available. For instance, a powerhouse can also pull off stronger Irish whips that send opponents over the ropes. There are several different types of these styles, including technical wrestlers, high-flyers, brawlers, submission specialists, dirty fighters, showmen, and hardcore types.


For the most part, each of the abilities assigned to these different archetypes fit nicely into each wrestler's general moveset, but some have a tendency to appear overmuch over the course of a match, and in some cases, they also feel a little overpowered. The powerhouse's ability to just grapple at will tends to be a lot more effective at ending a match quickly than the high-flyer's ability to do surprise pins. Granted, there's always been that difference in effectiveness between wrestlers of this type, but these fighting styles just make those differences all the more pronounced. Not to suggest that you can't win with smaller, less powerful guys, but if you get caught in a flurry of punches from a brawler or a series of hard slams from a powerhouse, you're down for the count.

Still, apart from this ECW-centric stuff, there's not much else to marvel at with the gameplay this year, especially considering all the holdover problems from previous games that plague this sequel. The artificial intelligence continues its downward spiral into utter boobdom, especially in any kind of gimmick match where weapons are prevalent. They'll constantly stand around, periodically flailing at another wrestler with a weapon and hoping for the best. Any match that has a ladder involved but nothing hanging above the ring to collect still results in a number of wrestlers constantly scaling ladders in the middle of the ring over and over again. Tag partners still sometimes forget that they're supposed to help you when you're in trouble, too. And now, with this new fighting style system, the AI has taken to relying on these various special moves to an almost irritating degree. How many times can one guy use the ref as a shield, or "hulk up" in a match? Apparently the answer is "too many."

In terms of content, SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008 offers roughly the same roster of match types and modes as last year, with a few small additions and a few significant downgrades. The biggest downgrade is the 24/7 mode, which actually now wraps the single-player story mode and the general manager mode up into one haphazard package. In an effort to combine the two, the story mode has lost all its punch and ability to deliver something even closely resembling a real storyline. Sure, you still get the yearlong title hunt with one of the main superstars in the game or a created grappler, but the story barely rears its head beyond the scope of a series of voicemails you get from other wrestlers and the general manager of the brand. The few cutscenes you do get are pretty generic, and sometimes they don't even fit the context of what's going on. Sometimes wrestlers you supposedly are fighting with will give you a handshake backstage. Couple that with some of the voicemails sometimes identifying the wrong person as your rival, and even identifying the wrestler you're controlling as someone you're supposed to fight, and the story aspects of this mode feel more than a bit hacked together.

In place of story is a bunch of lame statistical data and achievements that your wrestler is supposed to hit over the course of the season. You earn respect and eventual title shots by increasing your skill and your popularity with the fans, and you increase that stuff by doing all these little challenges and ventures between shows. Is your strength rating lacking? Go wrestle a guy for two minutes and do as many strong grappling moves as possible. Need to improve on the mic? Spend some cash for a nonplayable training exercise and get a boost to that statistic. Need to rest up? Take some R&R at the expense of your wrestler's fatigue rating, as well as a bit of his popularity. The trick to this whole aspect of the mode is keeping a balance between all the various things you're doing. Overexert yourself and you'll be much more prone to injury, which forces you to wrestle with damage already taken (even though the doctor always tells you to rest up, you can't skip shows), and if you just rest constantly, your popularity rating will plummet.

Again, reckless speed and drive prohibited street races, troops and police sirens at the tail, colorful Avenue and Backyard "city of angels". 2. Mount/Burn Image
3. Install Game
4. Copy the content from the SKIDROW dir on CD 2 to the main install dir and overwrite everything
5. Check our tribute to the old Complex made cracktro, called SKIDROW.exe and also located in the SKIDROW dir. We used it for the first time, back in the early nineties on Amiga :) Those were the days!
6. Play the game

The Driver series is helmed by an undercover cop named Tanner. This time around, Tanner is trying to infiltrate a Miami-based car thief ring, which is working to steal 40 exotic cars and ship them out of Miami. Part of the game's story involves finding out who the thieves in the car ring are working for, where the cars are going, and who's double-crossing whom. You'll start out in Miami, eventually make your way to Nice for some French car chases, and you'll also spend some time in Istanbul. The story is mostly told via prerendered cutscenes that fall somewhere between a music video and a movie in terms of style and inspiration. Generally speaking, the cutscenes look pretty good. In fact, the cutscenes are probably the best part about Driver 3.

Despite featuring three large cities to drive in, Driver 3's main mode is a linear, mission-based game that sends you on mission after mission until you've unraveled the game's story. Each mission has clear-cut objectives, like chasing after a guy who double-crossed your gang, stealing three cars and driving them into the back of a moving truck before the truck gets to its destination, or driving around on an enemy's turf and busting up the place by crashing through exploding barrels and other objects. At the end of every mission, you're given the option to save and then you can continue on to the next mission. The missions tend to vary from city to city, but the lackluster gameplay really prevents many of the missions from being much fun.

It's been about 15 years since the weekly television debut of The Simpsons, and over that period of time, more than a dozen video games have carried the license of the seemingly inviolable Simpsons franchise. However, with perhaps the sole exception of Konami's 1991 arcade action game, The Simpsons, none of these games have ever managed to really capture the sharp humor and unique personalities of the Springfield universe, and none have really even proved to be much in the way of fun either. Thankfully, this trend finally came to a close earlier this year when VU Games released The Simpsons: Hit & Run on all three console platforms. The game borrowed heavily from the recent entries in the Grand Theft Auto series, and, in so doing, it did a spectacular job of bringing the world of Springfield to life--with all the witty humor and unique style of the show left intact. Now, VU Games has released Hit & Run for the PC, and, despite a few hitches here and there, the PC version does its console counterparts justice.

The story of The Simpsons: Hit & Run is perhaps a bit convoluted in its design but seemingly in an intentional way. At the beginning of the game, Springfield is being overrun by mechanized bees, mysterious black vans and cars, and an insidious cola that is controlling the minds of the city's residents. In the game, you'll take control of the four core Simpsons family members (Homer, Bart, Lisa, and Marge) as well as resident Kwik-E-Mart proprietor, Apu, to investigate the origins of and motives for all these strange happenings.

As the game follows the same structure as the GTA entries, much of Hit & Run involves a linear series of missions, with a number of exploration elements to boot. The game uses a basic level structure, with seven total levels, each with seven primary missions. Each level in the game is assigned to one specific character. There's one for Lisa, Marge, and Apu, while Bart and Homer get two apiece. Missions are assigned by interactions with the city's various characters. They generally involve collecting and delivering items to other people or locations, racing other characters, and even getting into full-on car combat situations. In actuality, practically every mission in the game is a direct clone of one of the GTA driving missions. However, the lack of originality in the game's mission structuring is more than made up for by the decisively original style of Simpsons humor. The end result is actually very fun.

Each level also has one bonus mission and three non-story-related race missions. Completing both the bonus missions and race missions help you to unlock new and unique cars in the game. This is key, as vehicles are the most important aspect of Hit & Run's gameplay. Hit & Run has a bevy of different cars to choose from, ranging from the more generic and standard looking cars, to a host of different, episode-specific cars that fans of the show are bound to recognize. Each character in the game starts out with his or her own car. Marge has her road-rage-inspiring Canyonero, Homer drives the family sedan, and Bart drives Martin Prince's entry into the Springfield soap box derby, the Honor Roller.

These are not the only cars that each character can drive, however, as certain missions will require them to purchase new cars from vehicle merchants located around Springfield. For example, one early mission requires Homer to destroy Mr. Smithers' car before he can get to the power plant to conduct Homer's employee review. So, to do this, Homer purchases the massive Plow King from his good friend Barney. In a pinch, characters can also borrow cars from passing motorists, though these cars are all pretty generic. However, if you can find one of any of the numerous phone booths strewn about the town, you can access any of the different cars in the game. There is a seemingly endless number of different cars to unlock and purchase in the game, from Homer's self-designed car (aptly titled "The Homer") to Comic Book Guy's beaten-down jalopy to Professor Frink's futuristic hovercar. All in all, the selection of cars should keep you plenty entertained as you navigate the streets of Springfield.

The Simpsons Hit & Run is a mission-based driving game featuring out-of-the-car platform action, the interactive world of Springfield,and the signature humor of the Simpsons. To create the most authentic Simpsons game yet, dialogue and story were crafted by writers from The Simpsons television show and all character voices are supplied by the actual cast. In the roles of Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Apu, players explore seven large levels by car or on foot and compete in more than 56 missions. In addition to the GTA-style driving action, Simpsons fans will also find tons of hidden pick-ups containing trivia material from the show's 300-plus episodes.

The Italian Job
You don't see games like The Italian Job every day. The game itself isn't particularly extraordinary--it's a lighthearted mission-based driving game that takes you through the streets of London, to Turin, and finally to the Swiss Alps. Of further note, it's brought to you by the makers of the notoriously gory Carmageddon series (no signs of any gore here, though), it's based on a 1969 heist film starring Michael Caine and the late Benny Hill, and it was originally released some months ago for the Sony PlayStation. Actually, the PC version of The Italian Job shows its roots in all these respects, and despite some rough edges.


The Italian Job stars cockney wise guy Charlie Croker, who is fresh out of prison and is already looking to get into more trouble--trouble, in the form of $4 million that the Mafia already has its eyes on. The plan is to cause a major pileup in the streets of Turin and make off with the loot while the authorities and the Mob are scrambling to figure out what happened. In the game, you'll take on 16 different missions, first gearing up for the heist, then pulling it off, and then getting away scot-free. Along the way, you'll get to drive eight different vehicles, including everything from a nimble Mini Cooper to a bus filled with explosives. The missions are all short, but they'll often require you to try them a number of times before you get them right. This isn't really frustrating, because the missions are quite fun, requiring you to pull off some outrageous driving moves in densely packed urban settings, and failing a mission never sets you back more than a few minutes.

The controls are a cinch. Even if you've never played a driving game before, you'll be able to pick up and play The Italian Job easily. You can accelerate, brake, and turn left and right. The hand brake lets you execute sharper turns, and you can sound the horn of your vehicle to no real effect, and that's it. A damage meter indicates how close you are to totaling your car, though no incremental damage to the vehicle can be seen as you bang it up. The game's physics aren't particularly realistic, but they're good enough, and the various vehicles you'll drive are satisfyingly different in how they handle. Between the open-ended environments and the relaxed driving mechanics, The Italian Job is most reminiscent of the Midtown Madness series, though it's also comparable (though not favorably) to Driver or even the driving portions of Grand Theft Auto III.

It won't take you long to finish The Italian Job. There are only 16 missions in total, so you'll get through the main storyline in short order, even if you have to retry most of the missions several times. Some additional modes of play, including a free ride option through London and Turin, a multiplayer party mode, and the "challenge," "destructor," and "checkpoint" missions, add to the game's replay value somewhat, but the story mode is definitely the main attraction. The game's simple physics and minimal detail just aren't enough to carry it through these other modes of play, though the context of the story mode and the diversity of its missions will keep you involved.

The Italian Job doesn't look like much, but considering that it was originally a PlayStation game, it looks surprisingly decent in some ways. In particular, the vehicles you'll drive look quite good and feature a nice metallic sheen. There's also no shortage of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the streets you'll be racing through, so The Italian Job certainly isn't boring to look at. On the other hand, everything else about the game's appearance, from the blurry textures seen on buildings to the simplistic geometry of the environments, leaves a lot to be desired and is hardly up to par with the high graphical standards for the driving genre these days.

The Italian Job In 1969 the film 'The Italian Job was released and almost immediately achieved cult status. In the last 30 years it has become almost legendary. The film revolves around Charlie Croker, who is out of jail and on the make again. He is attempting to steal $4,000,000 worth of gold in broad daylight and from under the noses of the Turin Polizei and the Mafia.
